If it makes you feel any better, this is supposed to be a tortuous choice - these are two of Pentax's best lenses ever.

Torture yourself no longer - order the 50-135 now, use your coupons, and save for the inevitable 77ltd.

Many thanks - I just ordered the 50-135mm. I think the flexibility wins out.

I am also interested to see what the 55mm f1.4 offers.

When light is dim, faster is better. You can't shoot w/ the 50-135 at faster apertures than F2.8. The FA77 is sharp enough even wide open. Both lenses are capable of making great photos, but if you really need the speed, FA77 is the one.

And another factor to consider is the size/weight.

Between these two, I'd choose FA77.
