OK, no-one here is asking me to sell my 77. But sometimes I hear voices. "You
have an M 85, a Jupiter-9, a Sigma 70 - why do you still need the 77?" "Wouldn't
that DA 300 look good in the bag?" "There's an A* 85 in the marketplace..."

Etc. Etc.

The 77 represents a good chunk of change that could go towards some other,
longer glass. Granted. Accepted. Right?

But then...

Here's what I've found - the 77 limited is the One Ring. It's your precious. You
want to get rid of it, but it wont let you let it go.

I'll just have to go throw it in Mt. Doom. (But then I still won't have the DA 300.)

Sorry. Not familiar enough with modern Pentax. Thought you were selling a 31 year old Ford.

Tell me when you're gonna throw it in Mt Doom. I'll wade through the lava ... and it can be _my_ precious.

Well.... not really. I already have an FA77 and somebody'd have to pry it from my cold. dead hands! Of course, I'd catch yous, sell it and put a nice DA300 in MY bag.

Bwahahahahaha! *utter failure with the evil laugh attempt*

We're kinda in the same boat....except I have the DA* 300/4 but not the 77Ltd. And on top of that I have no primes in the 70-80mm range:-(. The biggest hole in my kit except for the wide end, I have no prime wider than 28mm. And on top of that since I have the 31Ltd and the DA* I'm spoiled, nothing but the 77Ltd and the new DA 15 will do.
The problem is I'm scared of dropping that much cash in these times.

Jay, I have a number in my head.
PM me the lowest shipped price you will sell your 77Ltd for, but man, I'd have to have a deal.

The silver version is known to be more resistant to magma, so it may survive
for a few seconds. Of course, you won't. The last thing you'll see is your precious
in your hand, though, so you could die happy.

Thanks, I like. J-9 doesn't have a hold of me like this lens does - if I decide to sell
it i'll PM you first, Gus!

I hear ya. I'm staying pretty consistant now, though, with the sell-to-buy
restriction. The good lenses hold their value enough that LBA need never wither.

Et tu, Eaglerapids? Are you joining the chorus of voices in my head???!?

when i first was buying lenses, i changed favourites like politicians flip flopped.
but after going to london and scotland i said that the FA77 is my favourite as i noted in my post here
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/33847-lessons-...-limiteds.html

criticisms is that wide open on the sides it ain't so sharp ... and the PFing is annoying at 100%

it's a great landscape lens

and fun for close ups

and the great MF ring is excellent for unpredictable action. this one wasn't MF but other similar ones were...

here's a portrait with the 77mm at f2.0.

Despite garbage, and other ugly stuff in the background I think this came out ok...

Ironicly, that is a lens I would keep. Small and well built. Boutique and a special focal length for pentax brand

Though I am ridding off my collection very soon. This is a limited to keep.

Hey - stop it. Are You make me decide over my feature buying plans (and not buying DA* 50-135). These photos seems to be just top notch. I even looked up the price I could get a new one here in estonia. These pictures and the knowledge of my own good FA50 ... damn you :P
