2x TC + 50mm?

Just wondering if this combo would work?

I'm after a cheap option in the 90-120mm focal length, but having a hard time finding anything, all the M's and A's in that range are $$$

I have an M 50mm 1:2 so if i can grab a Vivitar 2x TC from Ebay for a decent price will this give me a "reasonable" quality 100mm f4.0 lens? or will it not work so good? or should i just do it and find out the hard way? lol

I would expect the M50+2xTC combo to work but I'd be very surprised if it outperformed a modern zoom lens.

The M135/3.5 is plentiful and cheap ($70 retail at my local camera store; you can probably find one for much less) -- I think you would have more fun with that than with the TC combo.

Edit: Just noticed that you already have a m42 135/2.8 - I guess the M135/3.5 would be kind of redundant.

KEH has BGN M100/2.8 for $84. Another good idea might be a M75-150/4--these are quite nice for old zooms and go for well under $100.

I got one of these 2x converter, it will give you the range, but it decrease the exposure, might worth if you are using for bright light situation. and the picture doesn't come out as sharp. Maybe there is difference on the brand, since i get mine free with the bundle i bought from ebay, so i dont mind to keep it.
