I wonder what people would respond if you ask what kind of filters to get for it?
Probably a set of manhole covers!

Oops! My bad. Actually, the manhole covers would better serve as lens caps!

Actually, both lenses have a rear holder for 52mm filters but if you're looking for a UV filter to protect the front element, you'll need to shell out =/- $600 US.

Is this the same lens? I won this the other day... haven't received it yet, but waiting... Do you think I got a good deal? Or did I just screw up?

ebay item #270338518999

Sorry, I don't know how to make a link.

Same lens and we paid basically the same. Very fair deal.

Congratulations on the new addition Peter I got a bushhawk to play around with for my K version but haven't used it much yet. Be sure the bayonette clamp in the back for getting to the filter is in the right position and tight or the camera might come loose. Here is a sample taken with the k100superprobly f8)

This is about as close as you can focus on a small bird

I think this guy saw himself in the front element and came at me as I was behind a bush then he turned around.

Sharp as a tack Tom!

I am so sorry. I was hoping the next highest bidder wasn't a member here. But, I'm glad you didn't bid more
The seller didn't even print a shipping label until Thursday... I'm guessing they were selling it for someone else, and had to wait for the cash before they could ship... It's been a long week waiting for that lens.
As for nudging you out. I always bid the maximum I will pay in the last 30 seconds of an auction. I suggest everyone do the same. It is the only way to get good deals, and prevent stuff from becoming overpriced. Most people's value of items goes up when they get outbid.

And Peter, I'm sorry for taking over your thread. I knew it was the same lens, I knew I had a good price, and I was kinda wondering what you had paid. I guess I was just wanting to brag... I mean, did you see the one a week earlier that was found in a barn that sold for a hundred dollars more!

For photographers, owning big long lenses is necessary. No matter how big the lens is we always need "another 100mm".

Reeftool, aint's that the truth. Paired with the 1000mm I have now (Meade Schmidt mirror lens) I hope I'm prepared for most anything! If not I'm going to sell it all and get a Holga

Mark, that one the week earlier was just an odd sale. I've been watching these for a long time and they rarely go over $3-330.00. Don't know what happened there.

Yeah, that's a good price, and I'm willing to bet it's an M42 mount, not T mount.

I see you got a really nice copy there Peter. Thumbs-up. Love the dichotomy of the two you just took delivery on together.

I used to be on a hunt to get a nice copy, just had to have one. But I finally decided I'd stick with just using a 1.7x + my 300 to give me about 510/4.8 at a much lighter weight. That's close enough, so I cop'd out.

Well, I got it. Yes, it's an M42 mount. But it wasn't a good price... it's broken. If you look at the pictures in the auction, you can see the rear site next to the tripod mount. I've already taken it apart and found three screws sheared off... but that's the least of the troubles. The third element from the front (104mm) has haze damage to the coating, and will need to be polished and recoated. I've sent an email to focalpoint for an estimate, and an email to the seller mentioning my dissatisfaction.

Happy Valentines day!?
