Well done!

Very goods ones, you have not MC version (it's pentacon Multi coated), so the contrast not very high but in your pics it is very natural.

Ok please bear with my ignorance. I remember having a Yashica with a screw mount but I also hear the term Yashica /Contax mount. I know that Mamiya used screw mounts and that not all screw mounts are M42. Some of the Russian lenses intrigue me but I don't know which ones are M42 and which are something else. Is there some concise list of manufacturers who made M42 screw mount lenses ? Also whats up with this "T Mount" thing? Sorry but I just can't remember who's stuff fit what back in the 70's , up until buying into the Pentax line a year ago I shot exclusively with Canon FD bayonet mounts for a whole bunch of years.

Hi Seacapt,

you've opened a can of worms :-) In short yes, if you have a screw mount Yashica or Mamiya SLR it is M42.

Here's a good lens list of M42 lenses to start with: M42 is a site dedicated to M42 adaptator lenses. Oldies, but goldies!
and a general intro:M42 lens mount - Wikipedia

Many manufacturers have - in a certain era - used a 42mm thread with a 1.0mm pitch (=M42) and later switched to their proprietary bayonet mount.
Among these are Yashica (Contax), Mamiya, Praktica, Pentax and many more.

The T2-mount is hard to distinguish cause it's 42mm also but has a 0.75mm pitch. It's quite rare though.

The other thread mount which had a mass output like M42 was the earlier M39 for Leica and other rangefinder cameras.

Understanding lens register (the Flange Focal Distance) makes the whole thing much easier. Here's a list of the mounts with their respective register: Lens mount - Wikipedia

Have fun with those M42,
Georg (the other)

Yup, LBA worms!
I've allways been a fan of the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour " so to paraphrase Jeff Foxworthy; YOU MIGHT HAVE LBA IF-
I heard about an old Pentacon Praktica with 2 unidentified lenses and a strobe and bought it sight unseen for $18.00 US delivered.
I haven't even gotten my M42 adapter from Pentax yet!

So Here is what $18.00 got me
1) Praktica LTL3 in rough working condition
1) Pentacon auto 1.8/50 lens clean , clear and smooth
1) Hanimex Automatic 200/3.5 lens very clean for it's age
1) Sunpack Strobe

Who has Knowledge of or experience with these lenses? Are they good, ok or crap?

Captain... I have the pentacon 1.8 50 and it is a "looker". Sort of 'perfectly' soft at 1.8 for softer portrait stuff...
definately looks different wide open than any of my bucket full of 50ish lenses. I look for one of my test shots to post for you...

The others are outside of my limited knowledge

For $18 not a bad pile of stuff. The Pentacon's a decent lens, with the advantage it focuses very close. The Hanimex probably isn't very good, probably made by Makinon, possibly Cosina.

Capt... here are the Pentacon 50-1.8 test shots

These are from my first test with the Pentacon 50 1.8 all wide open I believe.

Nester is right it does focus close up.

I would say it is almost a 'delicate' look... vs say my smc 50 1.4 or helios 44

Thanks Gus, I see what you mean about the "delicate "look almost a crisp/ soft hybrid. I'm looking forward to playing with it when the adapter shows up.
By the way , real cute kid you got there!

Look at the thumbnail and tell me what you see. "That" wasn't PPed in.
Awesome effect... Not that I don't trust you but it does look like it's shopped in

@Gus: The last one is a really nice shot
