My lens is traveling this way ... sort of, anyway.

In 3 days it has gone from Thousand Oaks, CA, to Van Nuys and finally to Los Angeles.

Must be patient!

Mine is there:

I didn't buy the original hood since I already have a nice 52mm metal hood:

Will test tomorrow ...

I guess I'll have to live with the fact that I am not the first on the block to have one. Mine is currently touring southern California.

Dear blende8,

I'm also very interested in this lens as an alternative to the Pentax 21mm & specifically for stitched panoramas. In that context, I'd be very grateful for any comments you could make on the lens wrt:

- edge-to-edge sharpness
- susceptibility to flare
- is the metering chip in the lens functional to the extent of allowing autobracketing to work properly?
- CA

Given that it's a Voigtländer I am assuming that center sharpness & build quality are admirable and that because it's FF vignetting is not an issue.

Thanks for any insight you can give.

The lens looks very nice. I am looking forward to your tests. Your lens tests are always thorough and very useful.

Exactly.
I did a few tests today.
What I can say already is that sharpness is very good.
I had no metering problems at all with the lens.
I will present some results tomorrow.

I don't have a DA21 anymore, but a Sigma 20/1.8.
A while ago I tested the Sigma against the DA21 and the Sigma was better in all aspects, except size.
So I will give some comparison with the Sigma.

I see that my lens has landed in Canada Customs already, I should have it by mid week.

Tell ya what, I'll let our friend 'Blende8' do the testing, I was just going to take some pictures. Kind of makes me feel like the bumbling court jester when I see his expertice on evaluating a lens.

- susceptibility to flare
According to the few tests I have read about this lens (Nikon mount), resistance to flare is excellent.

My copy arrived today - Yippee!
It is really quite small; I like it!
Focusing is smooth and precise and well damped.
The hood is small too, but functional.

(Now I need the 40mm to grow my Voigtlander family!)

We're taking a wee road trip tomorrow so I'll definitely bring it along and take some pictures that I can share.

I've been shooting almost exclusively film these past few weeks, so my DA 21 isn't in use.

So I want this lens.... *drool*

Do you have a link to any of those tests ?
Thanks
