300mm f/2.8 Behemoth, Anyone?

I don't usually do 'LBA Posts' because, quite frankly, too many of you know where I live. And, I'd be posting too much!
So this one is so different and really outside of my norm that I thought I'd share.

I just got a nicely (but lovingly) used Tamron SP 300mm 1:2.8 LD (IF). All I can say is "Wow". Yes, the 112mm front element weighs as much as you would think!

How about some pictures, then?

Below is the first 'LBA' pic, Fluffy proving that she is more photogenic than any dog. The detail in the eye is amazing!

Pentax K10D, Tamron SP 300mm f/2.8 LD (IF) 1/800s f/2.8 at 300mm iso200

Below, the magnolia across the street - finally blooming.

Pentax K10D, Tamron SP 300mm f/2.8 LD (IF) 1/2000s f/4.0 iso100

Below, I put on the 1.7x AF Teleconverter and snapped some shots. I think I liked this one (taken wide open).

Finally, I would be remiss to not say thank you Jeff (Fischer) for making an excellent and seamless transaction! It is wonderful that we have so many trustworthy and genuine people on this forum.

Now I need to go work out some more...

as a fellow user of a 300/2.8

They all seem to be such great lenses, regardless of the manufacturer.

Congratulations!

Nice shot of Fluffy. I bet the detail is really amazing in the full size image. The magnolia wide open with the TC is very impressive as well. Congrats on the new lens. I'm counting on you to bring it to our next meet-up.

Love that bokeh and atmosphere! A beautiful lens to own in the right hand. I saw Tamron 300 f2.8 on ebay a few times but the price went a bit too high for me in the end of these auctions...

I only got the pentax f 1.7X recently and had not used it much on my 300 f2.8 yet.
