One of the great things about the Sears 135mm is the price. Here is one example:

It's at $1 now, plus $6 shipping. Of course you never can tell what kind of bidding frenzy will erupt in the final minute.
I think an inexpensive 135mm prime is worth a try. The indoor environment will not give you as many issues with flare. The focal length seems like it will work. Your light won't change much so M mode won't be too hard. Focus will be the biggest challenge.
The DA* 50-135mm f2.8 would probably work well also, or one of the third party 70-200/2.8 zooms. But you won't find them for <$20 shipped.
