For small quantity, you can buy lighter fluid. It's the same thing.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that ... it was a comment on my skills, not your description of the task.

My single attempt to clean up aperture blades was a total disaster -- I've got a few JIS screws and a K mount that might be useful in some other context, but what used to be a 28-135mm is a paperweight!
