The thing is all over the place, I would say! Use the search function and you will find more threads than you like .
Good lens BTW, congrats! Got mine several weeks ago and it is one of my favs. It's sitting on my camera right now!

I have it....

Ok, I have the Helios 44M which most of my Helios threads are with...

but I did just pick up the 44M - 2 and here is my first series with it...

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/51691-last-lens-ever.html

If you do a search you will find a ton of my shots with the 44M

In fact here is my post today with the 44M + a macro converter... I like these Helios lenses a lot.

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/51826-close-up-cacaphony...stuff-end.html

And still a couple of my favorite shots with it, for personal reasons....

congrats on the lens...

Helios 44 and 44-M are both 58mm f/2 lenses, as far as I know. Great little things; I have one borrowed from a friend and I thoroughly enjoy it.

I want to buy a 44

Which is the best? 44M; 44-2; 44M-4

I'm not looking for extra sharpness (I use pancolar 50/1,8 in this way and it's

OK for me). I need the classic character of the Helios. (I have the J-9 and I like it

very much).

Thanks.

Hi Wilkin and Estudleon

Estudleon, the portraits are shot at F2 for the B&W and F4 for the color one. It is the Helios-44M... as I said I also have the 44-2 now, but I prefer the 44M because it sits on the camera better and it has the A/M switch that allows you to focus wide open for more light and then slide the switch to your F pre-set to meter. The later versions -4 thru -6's do not have the A/M switch but they are said to be a bit sharper and the -6 for sure has Multi-coating.

Wilkin the macro converter I used on those shots was a M42 vivitar converter, but I also have some very nice shots with just a simple raynox 250 clip on... I would recommend the raynox 250 or 150 as they are usable on almost all of my lenses.
The Raynox 150 is probably a more usable lens, a little less magnification but more Depth of Field.

These are with the 250...
