16-50 and 50-135 pricing in Vanouver, Canada

I don't know if this has been posted before but one of the local camera stores in Vancouver listed the prices of the new 16-50 f/2.8 ED/AL SDM and 50-135 f/2.8 ED(IF) SDM zooms on their web site.

$999.99 and $1299.99 CDN. Availability is listed as June.

I don't know if I should be happy or sad .

Just order from Adorama ($749 & $829), and you'd be happy .

Not really. Those are U.S. prices. Factor in exchange, duty, and taxes, and you'd be paying just as much.

Will Bhphoto have stock soon as well?

I had been informed that Bhphoto and Adorama were literally of "one" company. True?

I don't know what you should be but I am sad. I have set aside buying 2 or 3 lens in the past several weeks in anticipation of the 50-135. I knew it was gonna hurt, and really figured about $1k was gonna be my limit. I really would prefer getting mine from my local Vancouver dealer. Maybe I can sell one of my kids to make up the difference.

Sad in North Van.

I disagree. Take the 50-135mm lens for example. Adorama is selling for $829. Add $35 for UPS Express shipping. And that comes to just less C$1,000 at today's exchange rate.

There is no duties on lenses, and UPS Express has no handling or brokerage fee. So you just pay PST and GST on top. So after taxes, you saved $340 right there!
