Sigma 50mm f/2.8 macro, should I buy it?

I saw a used Sigma 50mm f/2.8 macro lens for sale local for really cheap. The retail price for a new one is about $250. I can get it for about half of that. Not sure if I really "need" that lens. I don't do much macro work and if I do I have a really nice Tamron 90mm macro lens to work with.

So my question is, how useful would the Sigma 50mm macro lens be to me?

I have a few 50mm manual prime lens(not macro) and also have the FA 50mm f/1.4.

I can't seem to find a good use of the Sigma 50mm macro for me, but I don't want to pass up on a good deal.

So should I get it?

You could buy it and then pass it on to someone here via the marketplace. I'm sure there might be someone here eventually who would want that lens (which is an awesome lens BTW). Also as an added bonus you can use this to stave off LBA for a while telling yourself that you already bought a lens this month

I never taught about selling to someone else. It would be hard for me to sell the lens. I've never sold off any of my lens.....it's just too painful...

I guess I'll go pick up the lens later today.

Just picked up the lens. I found out this is the NON DG version. Does anyone know if there is any difference between the DG and non DG? I know the DG version is the updated "optimized for digital" but still usable for film, but is there any difference in performance?

I also had the non-DG version before I traded it away for another lens. From what I can tell and what others have told me there isn't a large noticeable difference between the two.
