Took the plunge

Finally bought a screw mount lens. 135 f 3.5 smc Takumar. Must say I am very impressed with the few test shots from it so far. Now I think I need to add some more super taks to the arsenal. But here is another question. The same shop where I bought this lens has a Viv series 1 70 - 210 f 3.5 zoom for 65 bucks. The lens cosmetically is very good, the glass is excellent. I shot a few test images with it and was impressed (although I must confess I missed focus on couple). For $65 bucks should I get the Vivitar? Keep in mund I have these focal lengths covered already. Thanks already.

There are two possible versions of that lens. Here is a page covering the whole series:

Vivitar 70-210 Series 1 Macro Zoom Lenses - Mark Roberts Photography

I haven't owned one of these myself. Sooner or later, you'll move beyond " have these focal lengths covered already" to "I need to have another lens and this one looks good".

Thanks for the reply. LBA strikes again! I realize I don't need it ( didn't neet SMC Tak either) just wonderinf if the price seems good. Recently I saw A viv ser 1 70- 210 for $150 got me thinking $65 isn't bad. I'm more inclined to purchase screw mt primes as opposed to zooms, which is why I've held off for now.
