Sigma 2x converter ?

Hi,

I am considering buying a Sigma 2x converter of use with a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 EX DG . They are said to excellent with that lens.

But, before I spend scarce money in hard times, does anyone know if can I use that converter with my existing Pentax lenses—16-45 mm f4, 50mm f1.4? Or my handy old MF Vivitar Series 1 28-105 mm, f2.8-3.8 ?

And, if I can use it, will I really notice a loss of quality?

I have a Pentax K10d body

I have both the 1.4x and 2x for my 70-200mm and it will not work with the 50mm or 16-45mm.
The optic on the teleconverter actually sticks out so unless there is a recess in the rear of the lens it will not fit.

Works fine on my F* 300mm though .. and very well.

Hmmm... thanks. So I would have buy a Pentax converter of the other lenses? Alternatively, is there a Pentax converter that fits the Sigma 70-200 as wel as the 70-200?

I also have the Tamron mc4 1.4x teleconverter and that works with all.

Thanks, A quick look shows none available any longer (B&H, Adorama, Amazon, and EBay). It must be an older version/model.

I've tested the combination in a shop last week.
The combination works (Sigma 70-200 f2.8 + 2x TC).
The 2x Sigma TC does not work with any other lenses I brought. It seems to be specially made for a selection of Sigma lenses.

Yes, keep an eye out of the for sale part of the forum as they sometimes come up for sale used.
Recommended (and scarce) as the quality is pretty good and it also works with SDM lenses.

not sure where I posted this now, but either in lens or accessories forum, on a similar teleconverter thread, I posted ALL the lenses listed in the sheets that came with my 1.4x and 2x sigma TCs,

To be clear, they will not work on any lens that does not have a 1 cm deep ~30 mm diameter recession in the back of the lens.,

they are not general use TCs but made for a specific range of long fast lenses and that is all

I purchased my Sigma 1.4x and 2x converters from KEH. They have them from time to time. They work perfect with the two Sigma super zooms (70-200/2.8 and 100-300/4). As mentioned, they do not work so well with non-Sigma lenses, and even then, they don't work with all Sigma lenses. Still, worth the bucks.
