Yes, but....
The DA 70's AF is faster
The DA 70 has quick-shift
The DA 70 has a more even center-edge performance
The DA 70 has less purple/cyan fringing.
The DA 70 has more clarity (personal opinion).

They are both good lenses. Which one you prefer is a matter of taste. When doing unpolished classic b/w portraits I use the FA77. For everything else I use the DA70.

Kind regard

Since everyone's opinions vary, there is no right or wrong.

Purple Fringeing is equally bad with Fa 77 ltd and Da 70 ltd. Australian light is quite unforgiving.

Regarding corner sharpness performance, there is a rule. The better corner sharpness, the worse the bokeh. So there is a trade off.

Few members have posted images of self-destructed Da 70mm ltd in this forum. Some of the posts really frighten me a bit...

Really? Any links or ideas as to why/how that happened?

Congratulations on your new DA70! Nice first shots, I can see you're going to do this wonderful little lens more honor than I manage to do myself.

I'm sort of hung up on wide angle these days, so the DA70 comes less to use than it did a few months ago, and I'm frustrated by the weight and size of my DA16-45. If they release the DA15 tomorrow, I just hope it won't be too expensive...

Da 16-45 is quite light according to my standard

Da 15 is really tempting and I am hoping that the pricing is going to be reasonable too

Well, yes, I guess it's not that heavy, really. In fact, I would probably prefer it to be slightly heavier if that could make it feel more solid

But it's SOO bulky compared to my other frequently used lenses (DA70, M-50/1.7 and M-135/3.5).

I love my DA70mm, because it's has good color reproduction and sharpness,

and nice bokeh.

Here it is guarded by a mouse with a short, but sharp little sword!

The DA70.

Good cracker, good cracker!

Just took my DA21 and DA40 out for a nice walk today. They performed admirably well.
This thread is NOT helping me from buying the DA70 to complete the trio :P

Was bored the other day since our internet was down. Decided to play around with some strobes and do some self-portraits haha.

Even at "just" f/4 (I think that's the aperture I used most of the time), the shots were freakishly sharp. I mean I had "too much" detail, all my pores and blemishes showed up.

I really love your work James. Your sense of composition is so intuitively spot on.
