Anyone have problems with tamron 70-200?

I just got my tamron 70-200 yesterday. After extensive of testing, I found pictures taken with aperture at 2.8 suffered some kind of optics problems. I don't know whether it was ghosting or flare, but the picture seemed to be foggy. The problem only will be gone if I changed the aperture to F/4. Is this the normal characteristics of the new tamron tele-zoom lens? I own few lenses but none of those lenses produce that kind of images. Is this a bad copy? Advise is needed. Thank you
The first picture was taken with F/4 and the second copy was taken with F/2.8 at 200mm. Sharpness of the lens is perfect.

It seems to me that the second picture is out of focus.... Conditions of taking the photograph?
I own this lens (TAMRON AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro) and Nothing of the sort has ever come up.

The two pictures were taken with a tripod at the same distance. The second picture was less sharp because of the very low contrast. And I don't know what to call for this kind of optical phenomenon; ghosting, flare, or halo effect?

Well, you are shooting wide open at the extreme end of it's zoom range. Many lenses lose a bit of sharpness and contrast at maximum aperture, especially zooms at the limits of their range which is why the f/4 shot could look better, as it's been stopped down.

It is possible that you have a slight FF or BF issue that is being compensated for by the smaller aperture in the firs shot.
