Sigma TC HSM compatibility with Pentax

I sent an email to Sigma UK asking about Sigma's HSM compatibility with Pentax, as the current TCs are not compatible. I have just received this reply-

"Dear Sir

Japan announced new Sony fitting converters last month but with no eta on delivery. We presume the Pentax fitting converters will be announced in the next couple of months. They have re-designed these to make them compatible with HSM.

Kind Regards"

So although it's only a presumption, it sounds like a logical one given the Sony news.

Sweet!

Wait, does that mean that the old Sigma TC's don't fit with the new HSM lenses, like the 70-200mm? Or do they just lose HSM capabilities?

Not really sure, but MF only I understand, coz if you haven't got HSM on those lenses, you've got nothing.

Hmm. I'm wondering specifically whether the newest Sigma 70-200mm works with the Sigma 2x TC. Has anyone tried this? If not, than I guess I'll have to go hunting for one of the older ones.

I tried the 1.4 Sigma TC with my new Sigma 70-200mm HSM and it did not work. I am looking forward to the new TC they reference.

A few TC will work but they have to be PZ1 type. Promaster, Kenko and Tamron for PZ1 will work with HSM but the reading of aperture is off. I have the Kenko and HSM does work but I will buy the new Sigma TC when available.
