Any pictures of 70mm and 77mm DA side by side?

Im trying to find a picture with their hoods both extended side by side. ive seen them in various pictures but never with both hoods extended and focus ring at minimum (so lens at longest). Can you guys help me out? ive been searching for a few days with no luck.

awesome. i knew someone had both and could do it! pbase pentax equipment gallery has a lot of them but not at their longest.

i dunno which to get... either one would complete a set of limiteds for me. <3 these lenses

i was gonna sell my 40mm cause i got a 43mm but theyre both so nice in different ways. i dont think i could do that for the 70mm/77mm right now cause of $... the 31mm and 21mm are different enough to keep both

The 70 is about half the weight. It's barely noticeable that you're holding anything. Remarkable construction, beautiful colours and sharp even wide open.

I had them both, and went with the 77.

Maybe so, but itīs also twice expencive than 70mm (in Finland).
I have thought same question, and i decited to buy both 21mm & 70mm. They will come cheaper together than 77mm.

why? i would like that 1.8 for low light indoors but i feel 77mm is way to long indoors.

77mm is only ~$100-150 more in the US. i might have to pull the trigger sometime this weekend.

Is the 77mm with the hood extended longer than the 31mm?

It is long for indoors--but good for room to room. The 70 isn't much better for indoors, and I find the 77 sharp even at f2, and beautiful things happen at 1.8.

I'd really use the 43 or 31 more indoors anyway, depending on the application.

As for length, it's a touch longer fully extended, hood out, than the 31 fully extended. But I'm not exactly bumping into things with either of them. Can I ask what your concern is there?

edit--added a quick snap. really dark inside here, but you'll get the idea:

the 31mm is my longest lengthwise lens besides the kit zoom, but really theyre about the same size. i love the lens but its heavy esp with camera strapped around the neck for a while (beautiful all metal construction comes with a price... )

my first candid of a street performer with the lens and the guy started screaming at me to not take his picture (after reading lots of candid experiences that say people dont really care...) and i feel maybe the size of even the 31mm intimidated him (or he was crazy).

i was leaning towards the 70da cause it seems the image quality wouldnt be noticeable and cause it was smaller/cheaper. but it doesnt seem so small anymore seeing these pictures.

Those with the 70 correct me if I'm wrong but I believe fully extended is when you are focused closest? If you want to take pictures of the crazies from the safety of a bit more distance to remain incognito, the 70 wouldn't be extended?

Only the hood extends on the DA 70--it has nothing to do with focus. And the hood can be screwed off, making the DA 70 very small and compact.

77 ltd is $250 more than the 70 ltd in the US, in other words, the cost of a 40mm ltd.

It was a $90 CDN difference for me, so I didn't hesitate to get the 77. I got the 70 later on, and never warmed to it as much as I might have.

I see what you meant though now. But unscrew the hood off the 70, and it looks like nothing!
