I had the exact same problem... but it's solved as of two days ago, watch for LBA shots soon.

No LBA here..

Can't afford it.

I can't even afford 'cheap' lenses.

However, all I need is a 77/85/similar length AF prime, and I'm pretty much set.

Welcome Marian!

lol, I had the same kinda lens in mind when I looked at the Sigma 17-70mm... longer end having f/2.8 makes a lot more sense to me than having the wide end doing 2.8 while mostly it's used at F8 anyway.

Wonder if such a reverse-variable aperture zoom is even possible, my optics knowledge isn't complete.

Cheers!

You seem to be in complete transition mode these days... I'm semi-transition, almost done.

Why the Zuiko? Is it that good?

Cheers!

I'm sorry to say that I'm not done at all. I'm in days of confusion. I have found the 5D to be a fantastic picture machine. A sad thing though; I can't make it justice. If skill could be measured in sensor size I guess I'm at a level of an Olympus entry model. Do you know anyone in need of a good and very well taken care of 5D just let me know.

The Zuiko 21mm and 24mm lenses are that good, yes. And small and neat and easy to work with. I sold the 21/2.0 which is a jewel but a bit wide to my taste. The 24mm (or 16mm in your world) gives me the right FOV (that is for my eyes and brain).

all the best, and hey; Happy Easter!

Yes, the 5D is a great camera, but it's not for me either, I am one of those strange people who actually prefer the cropped sensor to FF. I actually might know someone who wants one, question if whether he has the money these days or not, I'll mention it to him anyway, don't hold your breath, though.

And Happy Easter to you as well, my friend.

Cheers,

It would be great if you mention it. All he need is USD 2.200 to get this delivered to his post office:

A 5D in mint/lightly used condition, nearly only indoor use, <8500 clicks, comes with some small extras (three extra batteries and a charger for cars (and and European outlets..., original charger is for US outlets, Ee-S viewfinder screen and an aftermarket cable release), the box minus the UPS code, register card (not filled in) and the US warranty card dated October 30 last year.

He doesn't know me but if he knows you he can give you the money and I'll ship the stuff. And I'll take some pictures of the camera.

No, I'm not holding my breath.... I'm asking around a little and have a couple of half interested people thinking about it. Nothing will happen during the weekend though.

cheers, and Thank you,

Lenses in my head? I have two, but they're non-removable and only one works.

All the lenses mentioned fit on cameras, not your head!

Ah! An LBA on steroids thread. How did I miss this one?
OK here is what I have now:
Primes
Zenitar 16 f2.8 fisheye
Pentax FA 50 f1.4
Pentax SMC 50 f1.2
Tamron 90 f2.8 Macro
Pentax SMC 300 f4

Zooms
kit lens
Tamron 28-80 f3.5-5.6
Pentax DA 50-200
Sigma 75-300 f4.5-5.6

Realistic acquisitions
I really want the Pentax DA 12-24 f4 and then the FA 77 f1.7 ltd.
I think about 2 years of luck and judicious saving and I can afford them
after those two I'd like to add the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 XDI.

When I win the lotto: Since this is highly speculative I won't priortize them!
Pentax DA * 16-50
Pentax DA * 50-135
Pentax DA * 60-250
The Three Pancakes: DA 21 ltd; DA 40 ltd; DA 70 ltd.
Pentax DA 10-17 fisheye
Sigma 50-500

There! I'm done. I think I might have even come in below 10K!

NaCl(and yes, I do buy lotto tix! )H2O

Since Im going to the Amazon and Galapagos with my K10D in early May, I havent been quite able to decide which lenses to take with me. Ive been buying a few lenses recently and will decide which ones to take. Currently I have these:
Pentax FA 50 f1.4
Pentax 16-45
Pentax 50-200
Pentax 18-55
Tamron 28-75
Tamron 70-300
Tamron 28-300
Im not taking all of these with me!!! The less lens changing I need to do on my trip the better. Thats why Im considering making the Tamron 28-300 my main travel lens, realizing that there will be some compromise in image quality with it as the price for convenience.

your 16mm+vvitar macro converter

Oh you WILL use it. It's addictive. You can use it for much more than wide angle shots. I use it for nice closeups where you want more in the frame than can be achieved with a longer lens, extreme closeups with distortion for fun shots, and have even used it for macro work with the Vivitar 2XMTFC. It's well worth the price!
hi,
i am really interested to see your pics in this situation
please, can you send to me some samples?

thanks

Wow you guys have a lot of lenses!

I currently have:
31mm LE
K50/1.2
77mm LE

which I also use on film (although my ME died recently)

Considering the 21mm LE but it's too expensive for a focal length I don't use that much. Will probably get the 16-50* lens though.

Hi Tipentax38!

Do you mean the macro w/Zenitar? Not sure which situation, but I did a thread with as much as I could find quickly here:

My current lineup:

Zooms:
Pentax 10-17 FE
Pentax 18-55 kit
Pentax M 35-70 f2.8-3.5
Pentax FA 80-200
Sigma 70-210

Primes
K28 f3.5
M50 f1.7
M135 f3.5
Sears 135 f2.8

I've done secondary/candids shooting during weddings with my old Fuji and Sony camcorder. This will be my first season with the SLR so I'm hoping that with my experience so far, I'll anticipate critical moments and hopefully have the right lens on my camera beforehand. I thought the M35-70 would fill the gap between 55-70, but I'm finding the lens too soft at times and especially hard to focus. Thankfully I don't shoot too much in that range.

I would like a constant f2.8 in the 24-70 and 70-200 range, to replace most of my zooms (except the beloved fisheye) but that's for much later. I'll stick with Pentax if I can, but the Tamrons and Sigmas have been getting my attention.

I need a flash first. A third party vertical grip would be nice. I'll have to earn my money for those two lenses after that.

Well..... what do i have??

The Kit lens.
I should also have a Pentax 50 - 200 on the way

What do I want?

I am a rare breed, I am mainly interested in zooms.

Here is what I would like:

1) Sigma 17 - 70 f2.8-4.5
2) Sigma 70 - 200 f2.8 APO blah blah blah ( all these lens add-ons are so confusing
3) Maybe a 12 - 24 type lens for the really wide shots of buildings indoors.
4) Sigma 135 - 400 f4 - 5.6 APO etc...

The funny thing is that the zoom ranges I am interested in are not really covered by Pentax glass. Sigma seems to cover a broader range in one lens better.

The only primes I may consider is a wide angle one in the 14mm range and a macro.

I really cannot afford any of these, so I will just continue to dream.
