Tamron SP AF 1.4x TC

I'd like to know anything from owners of this TC and its quality over the non-SP TC. I found this article from Shutterbug magazine: Shutterbug: Tamron SP AF 300mm f/2.8 LD [IF] Lens And AP AF Tele Converter that mentions that there is a difference: , Scroll down to " NEW SP AF teleconverters". There is no date given to this article, obviously it's not a new one.

I'm aware that Tamron sells their SP line of lenses, and generally they are pretty good lenses, but until the above article, know little about the TC in the SP line.

I have yet to see one available for sale... And this begs yet another question, what is the equivalent TC from Pentax? (I know these two lines have not made any tc's for some time and are hard to find, but I'd like to be a bit more knowledgeable on the subject just the same).

If there is a thread on this from past, please link it if you know of it... I don't want to replicate what has already been posted ( I tried searching first before posting).

thanks to everyone in advance.

Nic

Hi solar1,

The Tamron SP line of AF TCs has (AFAIK) never been made for the K mount. I'vw heard that they are very good, but have never used one.

Here's a link for one in an EOS mount, just for info's sake:

Tamron | 1.4x SP Pro Teleconverter for Canon AF | AF14PC700

Pentax has never made a pass through AF TC. The only one with AF capability was the F 1.7x Auto Focusing Adapter that is now a pretty highly prized item for its ability to AF with some limits when used with MF lenses.

The once predicted 1.4x SDM TC that appeared on older lens roadmaps has disappeared from the latest one, so who knows if and when it might appear for real.

I think Mr. Burian must have been thinking more of the LENSESs having Pentax mount... though some are STILL not offered in Pentax mount! What a shame.

I do have the F1.7x too btw.
