Mike J at Online Photographer cheers release of 15 mm limited

Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere. If it goes to the main page, look for the entry labeled Pentax 15mm: Rara Avis on the left side of the page.

While it's not that surprising that Mike Johnston would be excited about the release of a Pentax prime given his past articles, I found the comments -- especially those from photographers using other brands -- to be illuminating. Note to Pentax: They envy your great primes -- make more!

He is a legend in lens critic world but he seems to "love" every lens ever produced...

Mike is an unabashed lens junkie. The truth is, every lens has something to love about it.

He did say in the comments of another post that he didn't go with Pentax for his newest camera, but he didn't elaborate to what he chose.

I don't get the point of the DA 35 macro, sure it's a macro lens something that the 31mm f/1.8 LTD certainly is not...according to the lens roadmap they were developing a 30mm f/?.? what is it with Pentax and lenses in the 20-35mm lens range?

ohh yeah I agree that the 15 f/4 limited is a brilliant Lens for APS-C...I just wish it covered full frame o_O

*Sigh* the full frame thing again.. if it did cover full frame it would totally change it > bigger, heavier and more expensive

true enough, the Pentax A 15mm f/3.5 has a HUGE front element...and it is very prone to flare. Looks like the Zeiss 18mm f/3.5 is the ticket for me.
