When I bought the 50-135, The DA70 was the next lens on my list. My intent was to use it for shooting portraits, but the DA* turned out to be so good, I ended up scrapping the idea. If I come across some "extra" cash, I'll probably grab the DA70, FA43, and DA40 Limiteds (in that order). If you know for sure you're going to be shooting one focal length, the lightweight primes are great to have. When there's a question as to what you'll need, there's nothing like having a zoom handy.

I love the 70 for its light weight and optics but I do miss the flexibility of a zoom at times. You just have to weigh in YOUR priorities/wants/needs. If having a light telephoto prime (with superb optics etc of course) is on the top of your list, then it'd be the "right" choice for you to get the 70

i'd go with the 50135.

versatility and almost the same iq @ 90mm/f/5.6 photozone gives 2307 to the 50135 so u r not loosing much.

Well... I did it.

I made my decision. And now I have a DA 21-40-70 Limited combo!

Initially I was just going to use the DA*50-135 as the image quality on this lens totally rivals many primes I've seen. However, the one thing that made my decide to go for the DA70 Limited was the size and bulk of the DA*50-135.

While the DA*50-135 is lighter than most massive zooms of that range (Canon L 70-200 F2.8 comes to mind), it's still pretty bulky and does weigh down my bag a bit more than... well, the DA70. Also, fitting my DA21 and DA40 and DA*50-135 in one bag made lens changes a bit awkward... The bags I tried were either too smalll for my DA*50-135, or too big for the small primes for ease of grabbing. I know, strange reason but this was a very personal and important thing for me.

I also love how these lens have been noted for their 'Leica'-ness I feel like I've just bought a Leica camera system for 1/10th of the cost.

Anyways, I haven't used it too extensively yet but am glad I went for it. No regrets on this one.
You guys were right. Each lens has their place. The DA*50-135 is a fantastic lens and I have decided to relegate it to wedding/event/sports photography.T he DA70 Limited for everything else

I'd like to share: Just had another shoot for a new restaurant this weekend. Despite the sucky tethered shooting speed and the lack of flexibility because of my using of primes, it's afterwards I remember why I'm using Pentax and why I'm using these amazing DA Limiteds.

Just opened the photos and here's a sample of how amazingly sharp this DA70 is. My apologies though, nothing special about the shot, no tweaks yet or anything.

Here it is when I checked where I focused, since it was "only" at f/5!

Looking forward to your photos with your new DA70!
