People tend to insist that this is true, but I have yet to hear anyone actually say that their f/5.6 does not AF with a TC. In fact, my Tamron at 300mm f/5.6 was able to focus correctly the majority of the time with a 2X TC.
OK here it is, my 400mm F5.6 wont auto focus with the pentax 1.7x AF TC, but my 300mm F4 will.

some people claim the 500mm F4.5 will also auto focus but I have not personally seen this.

as a result we have
- a measure of won't work, at F9,
- a measure of will work at F7.3 and
- a measure of maybe at F8.

your 300mm f5.6 and a 1.5x TC puts you at F8 in the maybe range.

Except he was using a 2x TC, so that means f/11.

Sigma 150-500

Hi

I can't comment on the 50-500, but I just recieved the 150-500 yesterday and I must say I'm very happy with it. Attached is a photo (taken for the hood of my car). 1/125, F16. Note: It has been cropped.

Regards,

J. P. Healy

Very nice! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it?

Hi Ballgofar,

I got this lens from SRS Micro systems through ebay. I live in Ireland and this particular company only delivers to UK addresses according to their official web site. I had read many glowing reviews about them prior to my purchase. I just happened to come across them on ebay selling 3 Pentax fit lenses. I had been looking at this lens when it was still only in Canon and Nikon fit (That must be six months at this stage). Everything so far seems to be working well with it, touch wood. I have posted up a picture of the lens attached to my K10D (sorry about the crap quality). I must say that the built in stabilisation is a great feature that gives wonderful results with this lens. The weight (2kg) is a good bit but it helps to damp out movement when handheld. It cost me 770.00 including postage. And I'd do it all again. Best of luck.

Regards,

J. P. Healy
