Hi,

Nice shot! I used to have the same lens but rebadged. It is a very nice lens optically but the construction is a little plastic.

cheers

i just received the macro 1:1 conversion lens, from promaster inc, for about 24 and change...
shipped quickly as well.... i can't wait to give this a go....
the only pp i did was to correct the wb.... minor sharpening....
the construction of the lens is marginal, but with care, hopefully will last for a while....
i'd really like to land the tamron 90mm 1:1, i can dream, can't i ???
but for a budget macro, it's tough to beat... not that common for sale however....

You're off to a good start!

I have the Phoenix AF variant of this lens. With proper macro technique it works quite well (stop down to f/8-f/16 and use a flash at ISO 100 or go high ISO in ambient light or use a tripod if possible).

Needs about +2EV exposure compensation when used with built-in flash at full extension.

Works okay for telephoto at f/5.6 and above. For subjects at infinity, hyperfocal focusing (f/8-ish) is a bit more reliable than autofocus.

i know i'm not as young (and as capable, steady that is)... trying to hold the k200d perfectly still while macro shootin' is a new experience....
i've got a monopod and lightweight tripod..... might need to come into play...
i just hate dragging around hardware...
thanks for the tips !!

A very nice test shot. Do you happen to the 1:1 matched macro adapter on your 100mm f/3.5? I don't have your lens but I do have a copy of the 1:1 matched macro adapter in 49mm. It is a very decent achromatic diopter that I use on several of my non-close-up in 50mm, 58mm, and 135mm that share the 49mm filter thread. You can see the detail of the adapter in Cosina 1:1 matched macro adapter.

Update: now I saw you with the adapter. Please report back how you like the $24 adapter. I love mine and I always have it like a filter in my bag.
