Vivitar Series 1 24-48 Wide Zoom f3.8

Hi has anybody out there had any experience with this lens. Good or bad comments welcome.

When it was introduced and tested, it tested out quite high. Mine and other user results are also very good with this lens.

yes, tested quite high (in german fotomagazin) but my copy turned out to be not good at all:
Sharpnes lacking throughout the focal ranges.
Only 24mm satisfiying.
Build quality satisfying - but handling was a bit 'irritating'.
Center of weight moving when zooming.
Variofocus: sharpness moving when zooming (you cannot zoom in, adjust sharpness and then zoom out...)
