Just got a J-9 via the marketplace and now I'm wondering what sort of a hood I need. Anyone have advice for me?

I got mine from this eBay seller:
eBay Store - Heavy2stars Photo Gear: Step Rings, Other Brand Hoods, Leica Items
I got the longer tele metal version:
New! Metal Tele 49mm Screw-in Lens Hood - eBay (item 110357807152 end time Mar-30-09 09:56:43 PDT)
It has sufficient length and nests nicely onto the base of my black MC version J-9.

If you can so that sosmebody make the shade, or you can do it yourself, here go:

Helios 44 Outer Limits

O did it, it's fantastic! Good luck.

I added a section in my blog for the lens hood for Jupiter. I got my Jupiter9 from igowerf and thanks to him who got the very good lens hood for the lens.

and it also comes from heavystar. That particular lens hood open up to 58mm in front and one of the item that I mention in my blog has a matching lens cap that go with the lens hood, a better combo as it allows me to have the lens hood permanently mounted on my lens for both flare and lens protection.

Nice, thanks!

I got a tele and a normal 49mm screw hood from him, for the Jup-9 and the FA 50.

Might as well join in. I love my J-9. I bought it brand new last year (although made in 1985). I have little to no oil on the blades (if i remember correctly as i'm at work) although my Helios 44-2 does have a decent coating of oil. My J-9 has recently been in hibernation as I've been shooting indoors lately and the 85mm + crop factor is just too long. For the price, the J-9 is a steal compared to the competition as the closest you'll get to this lens would be the Takumar 85 1.8/1.9 which goes for over $200. As for hoods, I use my all metal Takumar hoods.
