Hi Folks,

Anyone got a copy of this lens? I know Adorama is accepting orders. I am curious to learn about your valued opinion. TIA,

Subho

I am reasonably certain that this lens will be available in April.

This would be a KILLER lens for my work....I regularly shoot with the Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS as my "candid shots at events" lens, and having an extra 10mm on the wide end and 50mm more on the tele would ROCK! So I am anticipating this lens, even though I hit (shoot?) for the other team now..Crazy about the pricing though.....

Thanks for sharing. I am undecided at this point whether to go for DA 50-135mm or wait for this DA 60-250mm. The former has got a lot of good reviews here and satisfies most of my event photography needs. Now 60-250mm would be a good addition in terms of focal length coverage. It is like one tele zoom fits all situations

The sad part of the story is - 1) not yet available, so I have no idea whether it is good or with IQ issues and 2) price

Man, life is so tough

Just buy the 50-135m! Back in October/November 2008, I had some $$$$$ to get a nice fast tele. It was (1)Buy the easily available 50-135, the (2)Used to be available Sigma 70-200 (pre-HSM), and/or (3)Wait for the 60-250. I'm glad I went with the 50-135. Although I only shot with it from November until February, I was able to get lots of wonderful captures, it really is a great piece of glass!

Expect softness

Should we lower our expectation in sharpness area from this lens?
From pre-production sample.

Test4 Pentax DA 200 vs_ 300 vs_ 50-135 vs_ 60-250 (pre-series)

Pentax 60-250 vs Pentax 50-135 vs Tamron 70-200 - a NON SCIENTIFIC lens test !

Sharpness couldn't be increased dramatically without changing lens design, am I correct?

A hugely expensive lens!

Double the price of a 50-135, same price as a 300mm F4?

Better have incredible IQ otherwise this lens will fail with re sales

When I have made this comparism I first was shocked.
But then I remembered the quality of a pre series 50-135. It was shocking too.
And now? The DA* 50-135 is my mostly used lens.

I think that Pentax will be able to give us an xcellent 60-250!

I was in a similar situation to you in aug08 tryinh to get the sig70-300, I ended up buying a DA200/2.8 & a 1.7xAFA ! Nice as it is, the 50-135 was too short for what I wanted to shoot.

depends if you 'need' it now doesn't it ? if now is your thing then a tamron 70-200/2.8 might suit, or 50-135 of course. if you can wait a little while then we'll see how the 60-250 is.

April 2008 1GBP~200+YEN, Feb09 1GBP~130 YEN. in the Uk the sig100-300/4 recently went from ~700 to ~1200GBP.

The golden era of cheap lenses is over for a while.

I hope not. For the money it has to be better than my F70-210 for me to keep it.

I had the pleasure playing with the one of the 2 pre-production 60-250 lenses available at the recent open day which the above post relates to. I took a series of shots with the intent of posting some for info, however I felt they were quite soft at <f6.7 and to be honest I would have taken the lens back if I had bought it, assuming my debug mode focus adjustments weren't screwing thing up. Because of this I have chosen not to post any pics until I get my hands on production issue lens. I don't think it would help anyone to show them, there's enough negativity about this lens already. On the flip side, considering the no of grumbles abou it not being avaialbe then it should sell quite well !!!
