storing lenses.. using dessicants ??

Well... yeah...you dry it again before using it.

The point is, silica gel is reusable, but it has to be cleaned to keep it effective. Just drying it in the oven doesn't clean it.

Do you have a new way to clean it that the modern world doesn't know about?

I haven't ever had to clean it, just stick it in the oven overnight when it starts to change color. I guess if you use it in the fridge it may need to be washed.
