Focus ring question (DA* 50~135mm, DA*16~50mm)

Yesterday, I received my DA* 16~50mm lens, and by accident, When I am checking the lens, I found I can easily rotate the focuse ring further away the extremes of the focuse range (In AF and not attached to camera body). Then I found the same things happned in my DA* 50~135mm lens. I am not sure whether they are some defects in those pentax lens and eager to get some feedback.

Many thanks in advance.

That's the Pentax Quick-Shift focus system, perfectly normal.

To elaborate, that's how the focus rings are on Pentax SDM lenses - screw drive quick-shift lenses do not have this trait.

Not just the SDM lenses - The DFA 100mm Macro does this too.
