A Macro option to compete with the Sigma 180mm 3.5. Anything Macro, from 150mm to 200mmm would be delightful--at least a f3.5.

Echo, echo, echo...with Barondla with minor personal quirks...

TWO TILT LENSES: 24mm and 100 Macro tilter

TWO SUPERTELES: 400/4 and 300-500/4 zoom

TELEMACRO: somewhere around 200mm, but perhaps 150 perhaps 250 as modern production and pricing requires.

Just the tilt macro if I only get one. Actually, this group of lenses would likely not get the big sales companies like. But something as unique as a tilt macro just may get enough market attention? Maybe offer converters for Canon, Nikon, Sony and Leica so this killer macro tilt lens will be able to sell to any enthusiast willing to pony up? I guess that might require variable flange diameter and depth...hum...well, if it's a dream lens then go with the full adaptability thing. If it's supposed to be realistic, just the Pentax version will do, thanks!

I have never seen a zoom lens faster than f/2.8...f/2 zoom of that range would probably be humongous.

Actually that might be a bit low. I just checked Ebay and found a used A* 135/1.8 costs around $2,100.

Pentax A* 135mm f/1.8 ED Lens 135 f1.8 SMC A Star - (eBay.ca item 330314871115 end time 15-Apr-09 05:47:29 EDT)

Might have to add another $1,000 for an AF version.

Why pay a BIN price when there's one pristine looking A* 135mm f/1.8 for bidding right now

SMC Pentax - A * Telephoto 135mm f/1.8 Lens - *RARE* - eBay (item 270359726550 end time Mar-23-09 19:38:57 PDT)

Olympus have a 35-100mm f/2 zoom lens...for four thirds

DA*24/2 or make it 1.4 - nice and big
DA28/2.4 (anything between 2-2.8) ltd = pancake design
Those two would be sweet.

One of those two I'd really want (mainly the 24 now)
And I'd be really tempted by fast AFing 135 too...

An AF version of the A* 135/1.8 would be pretty special.

I agree with Tom. Particularly if it can focus close, say as long as my arm. Given that it is already going to be pretty heavy, I'd like it weatherproof also.

I can see where those who want a more compact 135mm are coming from and I think they should cater for both. A light compact 135mm for the street shooters and a bigger robust 135mm/f1.8 or 150mm/f2 for those of us who want to shoot in the dark and rain.

They definitely need a 24 prime, and I don't know why they're fighting making another 85!

People want them and are paying through the nose for the FA*'s!

When they removed the DA*30 from the road map, I was hoping they'd reconsider the FL and put out a DA*24/2, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

although it would be really nice to have all those FA*/DA*, FA/DA ltds, i would like to see some nice cheaper alternatives, like DA35/2, DA28/2.4, DA18/2.8, DA10/4 or something more like that.
and more expensive variantd, like DA*35/1.4 SDM, DA*28/1.7, DA*18/2, DA*10/2.8, for those able to spend more.

IMHO
1. As a "mark II" of course a da*16-50 f2,8 - without its quality control AND/OR design quirks and NON extending. I have some roouugh experience with this one btw..
2. An optically excellent (no PF) 50 or 70 - 200 f2,8 DA* NON extending - i.e. sort of a FA* 80-200 remake..

Otherwise a good copy of DA16-50 is a very decent performer and a focal range is just sweet for event photography works. Of course the focus speed could be snappier - but thats probably a Safox thing after all..but it could have more metal parts, more robustness - I just hate the wobble of its inner barrels...HATE it! (sorry for the rant

In the mean time, nearly finished my FA line .. these lenses are simply the best for the buck

Thats just my 0,002 cents..

Yessss.

They have the plans, the calculations, itīs a 24x36mm, it is optically perfect.
And with the experience (good or bad) of the DA* 60-250, I think a DA*80-200/2.8 could be done by Pentax in a few weeks ...

Question:
What's the fastest lens (maximum aperture) in current production on the wide end and in the telephoto range?

Answer:
the FA 31mm f/1.8 Limited and the FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited.
For APS-C, 31mm simply isn't wide enough and there is nothing faster than f/2.8 beyond 77mm.
Ok, if you're talking just primes, there's the DA* 200 f/2.8. Throw in zooms, and you've got the DA* 50-135. Still lacking, but not as totally as you've made it to be.
