Most of the A series or F series, but....

I think to have a complete range again, like the A series or F Series, including mostly fast primes.

Some have pointed to the 100mm F2, 85mm F1.5 and 135mm F1.8, others have pointed to the 300 F2.8, and 600 F5.6.

What I would really like to see for wild life is a 300 F2.8 combined with 1.4x and 2x TCs explicitly designed to be optimum for that lens.

SDM or screw drive is not really important distinction, but should be selected based upon optical quality first. A good MF override clutch in the focusing is a necessity.

DA* 400mm f/4 or a 500mm f/4.5; would be very welcome.

A 500/4.5 will be very unpopular because it cannot be used with teleconverters while maintaining AF; it is too slow. The competition have 500/4 for a reason....

An 18/2 will be too expensive and frankly this speed is hardly needed in this focal lenght. Pentax did design an FA 18/2.8 that was shelved in the last minute. It even got a product number and could be ordered......

Sorry to disappoint you but this is within the limit of teleconverters, it would work with a 1.4x no problem, but even a 500F4 won't work with a 2x. Nothing will AF with an F8 lens.

There are lots of reports of people using the SMC 500 F4.5 with the 1.7x AF TC. I use the 1.7x on my 300 F4 and it works just fine, therefore the 1/2 stop imporvement by going to a 1.4x TC will offset the 1/3 stop between F4.5 and F4

they need to make an SDM version of this one.

11-16/2.8
I second that. Also a longer macro to replace the aging DFA lenses, perhaps a 70mm limited and a 135 to replace the excellent 200 macro from film days. Actually, I have always envied Nikon their 70-180 macro zoom so why not a 60-120 macro zoom.

No it isn't. Not a single AF system is specified for aperture slower than F:5.6. Max aperture of F:4 yields F:5.6 with 1.4X converter. The fact that an camera might still AF with a slower lens doesn't mean it works within the manufacturers specifications.

3 inch length 8 - 1000mm f:1.1 zoom with a foldout swiss army knife & cupholder would be nice.

I don't think you'd want that feature.
You wouldn't be able to hand carry it on your plane trip

Well, for my personal wish-list, I'll take either a 10 or 11mm f/4 limited (without a petal hood which prevents the use of cokin-type filters), OR an 11-16 zoom in a DA* f/2.8 flavour.

However, I may just have to cave in and either get the sigma 10-20 or the Pentax 10-17 Fish-eye to cure my ever-increasing need for something wider than 14mm.

I agree. A 150mm macro is exactly what i want!!

Remake:
FA 28-70mm f2.8 -firstly, its often called one of the nicest zoom lenses ever made. Secondly, 28-70 is a perfect portrait range on either digital or film, and only the 17-70 f4 covers that now.
FA 70-200mm f2.8 - a longer, better built, full frame alternative to the 50-135 f2.8
FA 85mm f1.4 though it'd be competition for the limiteds.

Make:
DA or DFA 50mm f1.7 - Pentax needs a really cheap, good standard prime to compete with Canon EF 50 f1.8 and the Nikon equivilent, which sell like hotcakes.
DFA 20, 24, or 28 F1.4 - I'd really like to have a really fast wide lens without 'resorting' to sigma. Pentax can surely do it and do it better.

I'll vouch for the ideal all-around zoom lens... 12-105mm/2.8ish (4 to be more realistic)... I'd marry one if it existed...

Would that type of union be recognized in Canada? If not, you two could move to California..... I'm pretty sure you'd have no problem there.
