DA 18-250 lens hood options

All,

I have the Pentax DA 18-250 superzoom. One drawback of this lens is that the hood has no cutout for rotating a polarizing filter.

Can I get a hood that does? I'd heard that the Tamron version of the lens did have such a cut-out, but I looked at photos of the replacement Tamron hood on B&H and they don't seem to have a cutout either.

I could also easily dremel out an appropriate cutout, but I wonder if that would hurt the resale value.

Many thanks,

Reid

I find this lens to be completely immune to flare, performing very well even when shooting straight into the sun. A hood is not necessary. I leave mine on just so it looks good

If you use a high quality filter it also won't have problems without a hood. Mine are hoya pro-1 and I don't see any flare induced by them. Have you tried using the lens without hood yet?
