I just duplicated your vignetting. I put the PH-RBJ 77mm hood from my DA* 16-50 on the DA 12-24. The 12-24 takes the PH-RBI 77mm hood. A quick way to tell them apart is that the hood for the 16-50 has a polarizer window in it. The longer petals on the side of the RBJ caused darkened sides in my image.
thank you Canada_Rockies, so much! you solved my problem, the hood i have is PH-RBJ 77mm. i bought the lens from a person, who had both lenses 16-50 and 12-24mm must be he gave me a wrong hood. i will call him and tell the problem..

thanks again.. it's so easy now.. i was so tense.. last 8 hours..
have a great day, all of you.

I am very happy that I was able to help you, and I will be very careful not to use the wrong hood myself.

Albert, thanks for that info! I also have both lenses and had assumed they shared the same lens hood. Apparently I've gotten it right so far, but I'm sure it would've just been a matter of time before I too had an "unexplained" vignetting problem. Thanks again.

The hood for the 16-50 has petals that stick out further to cover the 16mm and no more, while the shorter petals on the 12-24 hood allow 12mm angle of view.
