I've picked up the K10D last month but had already purchased a few lenses in anticipation. So I'm up to 6 and also have a few ancient ones from the Me days.
Well, justthisweekend I made up an inventory list for the insurance on my equipment and my heart took a beat after I saw the money i had spent. Instand LBA cure...NO MORE!
(Well, unless...USM....??)

I've got an old Harley (1976 Sportster) that I'm considering selling to support my LBA. Wish I'd known a year ago that prices were gonna jump like they have.

LBA

This is quite a serious affliction

Between my two systems I have

16 Pentax lenses
13 Nikon lenses

and the quest continues

Well, I think that most of you know that I've got just about the worst case of LBA of anybody in this forum. My latest lens count (not counting 3 in transit) is 211 lenses for Pentax K and M42 mounts, broken down as follows:
- 113 K-mount primes
- 37 K-mount zooms
- 42 M42 primes
- 3 M42 zooms
- 16 Adaptall primes and zooms
(I also have 23 lenses for Fujica-X and Contax-G mounts.)

I'm just one lens ( the K100/4 macro) away from my main collecting goal, which is to have all of the Pentax K-mount primes between 16mm and 300mm. Some of the missing ones outside that range are very rare and correspondingly pricy, so I'll probably never get them all. I currently have 85% of the Pentax K-mount primes in hand and may possibly get close to 90% one day, if my money and my marriage hold up. Thanks to the fellow forum members who have helped me on my quest.

Somebody stop me... please!!! (just kidding!)

Regards, Jim

Hi Jim,

I was curious as how you store all your lenses. Do you use one of those dry cabinets? I'm looking to pick up one of those dry box cabinets in the near future but can't really find any information in the U.S. I see plenty of ads for them in Japanese magazines however, but nothing much for within the States.

Toshi, the humidity here in Michigan is rarely high enough to promote condensation and fungus growth, as long as lenses are stored in a ventilated area. In really humid weather we turn on our air conditioning which reduces the humidity to safe levels. I've never seen dry cabinets for sale here so evidently humidity is not a big problem.

My older lenses (M42 through M) are stored in glass-fronted curio cases along with my collection of camera bodies, and my newer lenses (A through DA) which get more frequent use are stored on shelves in my camera closet. I've had no problems to date.

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply. I guess I shouldn't worry as much living in San Francisco where humidity isn't a factor Curio cases/cabinets were my other thoughts on storing lenses and I guess that would be better option (and cheaper.) Thanks again.

Since you placed your order during rebates, you'd still be eligible. The problem is that rebates need to be Postmarked within 30 days of purchase.

I contacted Adorama for an estimated shipping date. They could not provide one. So, I placed the order through Amazon ("ships in 1-3 weeks") which was about $25 more (but would make the rebate cut off).

Went to cancel my Adorama order the day or two after I contacted them the first time - but now the order has been packed and is on the way. So, I cancelled the Amazon order.

Normally it is easy to say they have no clue about their expected deliveries, but the company I work for has the same problem (with about 30,000 different items in inventory). There is no way to be accurate with every estimate, many of which are based on manufacturer info.
