Sigma 17-35

There: I come upfront with some pictures I took one of these days.
I'm looking for your feedback.

I recently purchased one ... and looking forward to using it more as well ... as pretty much have put my old kit lens on the shelf now (such a shame as it has served me well though).

But so far so good with the decently sized 17-35mm .... i think it was initially designed for film more than anything ... but it works well on the K10D ... and focusses surprisingly closer then it is meant to as well.

Thank goodness i have filters in the correct size as well

I have to say, I get very good results (in regard of CA, sharpness and contrast) with this "little one", even wide open.
But I am trying to use my other lenses more. So I don't feel I invested in shelved 'collector items'.

I have this lens. I only use it for backpacking trips because I can only carry one lens and I prefer the wider angle for landscapes and such. My copy is sharp enough for me and has held up well in the back country.

I have heard a lot of horror stories about this lens, but I guess I got lucky, but I am not a pixel peeper either.

I have it here with me at work at the moment on nightshift.
Will take a few test shots on the desk here and post up if i get the time.
From what I can see though ... it looks pretty decently sharp with a little peeping.

Another good thing about this lens ... it uses the same filter thread size as my Sigma 28-70 f/2.8 EX lens

Nice lens!

Good work on that photo, Octavmandru. I love it!. just out of interest, is that dust on the left of the photo? or was that part of the clouds?

Nice work both of you ... looks like it's a good interior lens.
I found it's quite good in low light conditions hand held ... compared to a few other lenses I have.

And I have also found that it renders colours nicely (little to no PP needed on jpeg images) ... so it saves me later on where there's no need to edit images.

I am really starting to like this lens ... it's still on the camera.

Then, I guess you'll post some new pictures

I'll definitely take it with me to Prague, next week. Can't wait to get there

Hahahaha ... I actually took it off to use my Tammy 90 Macro and Sigma 28-70 f/2.8 over the Easter weekend ... I really didn't need that wide at the time.

But it is goingg back on soon for more testing.
