Do they have an API? I think I ran across an RSS feed when I was doing it, but it didn't give all the text, IIRC.

Anyway, with 10 cities, my perl script took about 20 seconds to run each time, and 98% of the delay was waiting for server/network response. Each posting was only retrieved once, then indexed as 'searched', so only new postings really got pulled and parsed.

I'm not sure that a multi-threaded app wouldn't just be overkill, since you're kinda at the mercy of the servers, but I'd be interested in hearing about new efficiencies if I ever reach that level of LBA again!
I was kidding about the API, though it is possible that one exists.

(For the non-programmers out there...API stands for Application Program Interface. An API is a way for a computer program to "talk" directly to another computer program.)

I was also kidding about the multi-threaded app. Such would be way much overkill. I used to work for a dot-com where people would regularly script our site and harvest our content. The ironic thing is that we offered an API to our partners that we might have been willing to expose to those users if they had the courtesy to ask!

Ouch - how/where did they get stolen, and I assume you had them itemized in your insurance prior, or how is that all working?

.
My van was broken in while I was on a job. Actually, the police think it might have been done by somebody who knows me, since the only stolen goods were the lenses and LX body. As for insurance, I have a specific insurance (I think they call it a "floater" in insurance talk) to cover my equipment at full value, even if not in the van, house or work related location. Not cheap, but I'm glad I had it then. I actually recommend that type of coverage to everybody who takes his/her photo gear everywhere. You never know what can happen.

I'm an ex-lens buying addict. The cure was simple: I bought everything.

You fit right in here.

Not just any old book, but a whole bookstore full of them.
Not just any old single malt scotch whiskey, but selected single malt scotch whiskies.

Not just any old camera, but Pentax cameras.

Oh man, seriously. I have 6, I finally stopped after getting a spectacular Martin. It's just like lenses: you may have a nice one, but each one is different and great in its own way.

Oh man, lenses AND guitars - I think my head's gonna explode!

I lost count - lets see, 2 basses, 2 acoustic, one acoustic/electric, one 7-string electric, 5 or 6 6-string electrics, a couple travel guitars, and the newest addition: a Cherryburst American Stratocaster with a Fender Twin Reverb amp...

And to steer this back on topic, I have to keep an excel spreadsheet printout with me to avoid picking up duplicate lenses!

Please, nobody mention fountain pens...

Giving in to LBA

I admit a relapse and have pulled the trigger on a 70mm, which should be in later in the week. I am in full denial of my addiction and will continue to medicate with good highlands single malt.

So, it's not an LBA episode when buying after selling a lens? Is it
I mean the $$ are in my PPal account anyway...I'll have to pay to withdraw the funds...it's not like I can pay the electric bill with PPal...I have to buy something, right? And why leave it there for more than a day or so? Why should they get to play with my money when I can do that just fine myself?

Yeah! Thanks all

Uh oh...I just remembered...I already bought a another lens. I couldn't wait for mine to sell and pulled the trigger on an A 100/2.8. Does that even count? And I still have to do something with the $$ in PPal.

Oh well....

My name is Steven and .....

LOL - same exact rationalization I used last week - now waiting for a Vivitar Series I 28-105/2.8 - no sense in PayPal gaining interest on MY money...
