It's threads like these that make me want to sell $700 worth of equipment to buy the 31Ltd.

That would leave me with the 31 and the MX/ME-S...which I might be OK with

damn, I'm jealous. I don't think my wife will see the need since I have a 21mm and a 50mm. If only focal length were all there is to it...

I completed the lens tests, I won't state any numbers. but the FA31mm f/1.8 is in my top three greatest 35mm lenses. And it wiped the floor with the current Canon 35mm f/1.4 which is twice the price. Additionally, I compared the negatives against the ones taken using the Leica 35mm f/2 and f/1.4 pre-ASPH and ASPH variants and it holds it's own against those two legendary lenses lenses that are 5X the price. Unfortunatley, the K 30mm f/2.8 didn't fare well against the the FA 31. my copy of the FA 31mm f/1.8 gleefully stomps on the 1980's Pentax 30mm f/2.8 - but that is expected

I'm quite impressed with this beauty...I also realised I'm more inclined to pixel peep with this lens and my response is always"bloody hell this lens is good" .I also noticed the images from it taken at apertures f/4 and higher don't really need any sharpening f/1.8 to f/2.8 need a touch of USM to give it some zest but that's it....I'm not really interested in any lenses wider than this, as i'm terrible at using wide angle lenses.

here are more image samples from the FA31

one last pic...

usually, when a photographer gets a new lens he points it at things other than himself...so I grabbed a softbox and exposed my face to the scrutiny of the FA31mm F/1.8 limited...this was shot wide open.

Congrats to Digitalis on your purchase!

Membership to "The Club" apparently seems something to aspire for; one of these days I'll get there...
I think you've been long time in the club....
I wish I could have 21/3.2 24/2* 85/1.4*... like you do

I know I said I had posted my last FA31 pic...but this lens is so good...

The first pic was shot wide open and every detail, from corner to corner is rendered crisply, Absolutely first rate performance. The second demonstrates the saturated colours the FA31 produces (this is out of camera K10D JPG with everything set to neutral) it's just as contrasty wide open as it is stopped down. I have never used a lens that is anything like it.

The sample shots in the thread from the 31 mm, are superb. Are they taken with the ME-Super ?

Congrats! You have purchased one of the best lenses ever made! You will never regret it - unless you change to another brand of camera.

no, they are all taken with the Pentax K10D. I still have a few rolls of film to put through the Pentax ME, but from looking at the negatives I can tell you this is one bloody sharp lens.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how closely it focused. - 11mm extension tube used, wireless AF540FGZ used to fill shadows.
