Just returned from Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. I bought the 18-250 a couple of months before going. I wanted to reduce the size and weight off my sling pack. I only took one other lens, my 50mm macro. Never took the 18 to 250 off. Took close to 3,000 pics WOW what a versatile lens.

I have used a very similar set-up in several oversas trips: K-7 + DA18-250mm + fast prime (Nokton 58mm f1.4). The perfect package for travelling light. Very, very impressive...

Typically I have carry the K-7 and 18-250mm in a small Lowepro toploader, and I keep the fast prime in my pocket. What bag(s) did you use?

I use the Lowepro small sling bag.

I carry my flash, (540), 50mm macro, 1.7x converter, Body with 18-250, batteries, cards, usb uploader, mini tripod, bubble level, lens cleaning stick, cable release, small light weight Manfrotto tripod, Cokin double lens shade. an assortment of Cokin filters and adapters strapped on the outside.

As I've mentioned before, I recently did a two-month drive around the SouthWest USA. I took 25 lenses for my K20D. What I *used* were: DA18-250 (80%), Zenitar 16/2.8 (10%), FA50/1.4 and a modded Nikkor 85/2 (5% each), and almost nothing else. For non-stop travel, that kit is hard to beat. The 18-250 really is the most flexible do-almost-anything-outdoors lens around. And that stuff, and the AF360 flash, and batteries and pills and maps etc all fit into my Ameribag with ease.
