I popped my head into my local camerahouse today and I was browsing through their (not horrible) selection of Pentax Lenses. Some lovely DA* on display, shining their gold rings.

In the back of the cabinet, at the bottom, hidden away was a box with "Nissin 100mm AF Macro" written on it. It was heavily reduced to $199 AUD.

I didn't want to bother anyone so I made a mental note and came home.

When I got home I tried googling it and found nothing, nada, zip. Seems Nissin make flashes.

What is this thing? Maybe I read something wrong and it's a flash, but the box was certainly lens proportions.

Anyone shed some light on the situtation? Bargain of the century?

Maybe it is a clone of the Vivitar/Cosina/Pheonix 100mm f3.5 Macro lens? They were pretty cheaply made compared to Pentax lenses but they still produced nice images.

I don't have a good link for you regarding those but googling for it should bring some decent results.

Maybe I'll just take my camera in next time I'm there and see what it can do (or what the hell it is).

I doubt it's going anywhere anytime soon.

Any other info people might have would be great.

A while back there was a Nissin ring flash listed on a Finnish auction site, maybe it was originally meant for the lens in question?
