New in box, basically... since it's a discontinued lens, it really becomes a collector's item at that point.

And a used Leica 85mm would be? How about a Zeiss? A Canon? Are they remarkably better than this? I doubt it very much.

Yeah, that's something, but I recently saw an A*85 on eBay going for $1495 USD! But there's more at work here than just lens value, must be something about currency exchange?

Have a look at the questions at the bottom. People asking about shipping to South Korea and China.

well canikon lecia people might be used to paying such prices but we are pentax people and are used to value for money

the above shot is nothing that could not be achieved 1000$ cheaper with a 77 ltd or a 70da even.
