funny thing on buying some "serious" glass is, that it makes shots you considered decent, look bad suddenly. I can't count how many "bad" images I found after buying DA40 and later FA31... I was thinking about DA*50-135. By all accounts a great lens. Congrats and enjoy it....

I wouldn't consider the DA* 50-135 any more 'serious' than any legacy glass. whether you paid several hundred or even a thousand bucks on a modern 'pro' or 'serious' (as I take 'serious' to mean at least roughly 'more pro') level lens or 25 bucks on an older manual lens. its how you use it. of course there certainly is a distinction between a basic consumer grade lens and a high end lens, but that distinction I don't believe is always or even most of the time because your 'pro' lens is newer and more expensive.

I am not making any out right assumptions on your views, just presenting my feelings based on what I read in your opening statement.
