FWIW, as of this evening the FA50 is still on the Pentax Store website.
Yeh...go figure...with any luck it will remain in the product line for some time yet.

Steve

(...or at least until someone figures out that it is cutting into DA* 50/1.4 sales...)

Now, you don't think for argument's sake that Pentax DOES have thousands of them stashed away in a warehouse and will stop shipping them out so that it could only be bought from the Pentax webstore at a considerable higher cost.

Pentax themselves said that their prices are considerably higher to protect retailers. Um hello? If they refuse to ship any more to other retailers, Pentax would only be protecting themselves and gouging the price!

Interesting - I used the back door from the USA site @ Pentaximaging.com and it is not showing on their FA Lenses page. Just the 50 and the three Limiteds. Ned?

Bookmarked the webstore.

Uh...whether they have 1000's stored or not, those are their lenses and they can sell them for whatever price they choose.

I found it via www.pentaximaging.com by clicking on the "Where to Buy" tab, then selecting "Buy online now at the PENTAX Store." Once in the store I selected the "Photo Imaging" tab then "SLR Lenses." FA 35mm f/2 AL is the first lens in the first group that pops up.

Weird...I looked last night before doing my last comment and it was not there. Weird too that they put it in with the DA stuff. Something is strange in FA 35/2 land...

Steve

(Perhaps B&H was a little hasty with their "discontinued" notice?)

No, look here. It is still showing up on their store because they are probably trying to clear out the remaining inventory. They most likely pulled it from the product page when it was discontinued.

Well, whatever - maybe Hoya sees $475,000 of cash flow straight to the bottom line (the cost of that inventory would be categorized "sunk costs") and decided to keep them all for itself.

Glad I got mine last year for $299 from B&H.
