Sigma 35-105mm mounting issue

I just got a Sigma 35-105mm manual lens, tried with ME and SF1, fits in both, when i use on a K20D, it doesn't fit, i matched the red dots on the mount, but the bottom doesn't lay flat on the camera mount, I think the problem is on the camera's metal part next to the shutter leg(red circle on pic) Do i need to cut that part out to make it fit on K20D?

yes you do. some people take a dremel to it , others take it off completely. Thats a better bet IMO, since you can replace it if ever you decide to resell. If you do decide to attack it with a dremel, best to take it off first to keep metal filings from getting in.
