With what, and for what results are you looking? I have and since sold it. PF was just silly on the DA*300mm and AF/SDM was non-existent. I see that you have a lot of TC's listed in your sig, with the glass that you have you may not have hte same problems that I had so it may be worth it to you to try it out, but I wouldnt invest a lot of $$ in it. There is no substitute for true reach.

The promaster does a fairly decent job on the f*300mm, but i was hoping for a little more reach with better iq. I mainly shoot long and thought this might be a cheap solution for those times when my stealth approach just doesn't work. Maybe a 7 element TC wil give me the reach with acceptable optics??? As for no 'substitute' I keep eyeing the sigma 500mm prime, but a retiree budget doesn't come close to the price on that lens. I found one of these for around $75 and decided to ask before throwing my money away. Enjoyed you gallery

I have the Tamron version on this TC.... its not a bad TC for a 2x... the normal acceptable IQ degradation expected from TC of this type... I don't have good long prime to use this on.. I use it on my Voightlander 125 macro. Don't use it much as I use my Pentax AFA 1.7x TC more as it gives me AF.

I don't bother to use this on consumer grade long zooms... not worth the bother as I only have the DA55-300 and it doesn't take any TC well.

Cheers

I have it and put it on the 55-300 and the tamron 90 macro

55-300: AF still works, but silly , tent to hunt everytime, event at noon light , I did manage to make it work in a concert and only about 5% of the pics looked ok.

90 macro: AF works, but slow, decent in good light, and not working in low light, pictures quality are just above average

I haven't tried it on a H$M or $DM len$e$ , I hope i will get them soon anf tell you the result

Thanx for the comments. I think i'll pick it up. When it arrives, will test it with the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 and the f*300mm f4.5 and post the results. If I can get the quality of the tokina 500mm mirror lens i sold, it will be a worthwhile purchase.

I have the manual focus version of the Tamron F-2x, I regretted selling it.
And I tried it on consumer zoom lens

Tamron-F 2x MC4 TC

Very Hand-holdable 600mm

without TC

I still don't know if cropping in K20D will be better than a good 2x TC. Any thoughts are welcome.

I have the Kenko 2x Macro Teleplus MC7 that is both a macro and tele converter. It is in manual focus and with the 'A' contacts. It works quite in both macro and tele purpose for a 50mm but I have not used it on lens longer lens 50mm. I wonder if that Kenko teleplus is related to yours, I have good experience with the macro teleplus and I would expect great things on your Kenko TC for the 2x purpose.

I have the older Kenko MC7 2x A tc, without AF, but with A contacts. I would assume it to be off the same or at least very similar design, though I can't prove.

I have around 10 different tcs and this one (Kenko MC7) does quite well for a 2x tc. I would rate it to be better than the old Pentax K6-T with most lenses and just slightly worse than the Pentax 2x-S tc. You have to shell out a lot of money to get something really better, like the Pentax 2x-L tc. All my testing was with longer fl primes as I usually do not use zooms with a tc.

The Kenko 2x Teleplus MC7 AF DG (made by Tokina) arrived this a.m. heres a couple of originals and crops using the Tamron 70-200mm f2.8. first at 150mm (300mm equivalent w/tc) and 200mm (400mm equivalent w/tc). The combo does well with plenty of light and autofocus is acceptable. hunts like a hound (all over the place) when there is cloud cover. I'll be carrying this with me on those sunny days when i'm wandering with the 70-200mm. I'm satisfied with the results.

Tried the TC with the f*300mm. It definitely works better with the Tamron 70-200mm.
