I just bought a 50mm/f/1.7 and a 40m/f2.8, both manual. Was 40$ / 35 € a good price for them?

If you are happy with the purchase, then the price doesn't matter. But, because my cheapest lens was $320, those prices sound good.

In the US they go for 40 and 100 respectively, so if you paid 40 you did very well. The 50mm in particular is very sharp even at f2.0 and the 40mm is known for corner to corner sharpness although it peaks lower than the 50.
