Need an opinion ASAP!

Hi,

I have an opportunity to buy a Super Tak 105mm lens TODAY! After asking about the condition of the lens, I got this reply "The 105mm has seen some use, cosmetically is fine, I do notice some light scratches on the front element when I put it up to the light. Most comments I've seen online is that front element doesn't affect image quality much. "

I'm a newbie, so would appreciate your advice. I can buy it for $50.00. I have to decided today as he happens to be traveling to my area today.

Not a bad deal at all, I'd say. Of course that's without seeing it. I've sold copies of that lens in poor condition for a little more.

Sounds like a decent deal, depending of course how bad those 'light' scratches are. Good price, and yes, the front element defect doesn't affect the picture as much as one might think

Scratches on the glass tend to make the lens more flare prone, but other than that, they aren't too critical. Cleaning marks on the other hand.....

IF you don't like it you can always sell it..... and probably not lose money.

Thanks so much for helping me make a decision today. I bought the Super Tak 105. I held it up to my magnifying light and you can barely see the marks. I posted a picture of the Carlsbad flower fields on the Pentaxian Day thread that I took with it.
