I'm not considering the 31 or 77 LTD because I want to go small, for now.
I'm not considering the 21 LTD because it's too wide, for now.
I'm not considering the 35 LTD because I have the FA 35.
I'm not considering the 43 LTD because of price reasons (incase I buy two lenses)

That leaves the 40 LTD and 70 LTD. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that I will end up buying both of them. Just in case I end up with just the one, I'd appreciat the thoughts of my fellow forum members, thanks.

I do love the 40 (that's why i bought the 70).

The 40 will be very close to your 35. Maybe buy the 70 first and see how you like it. Or sell the 35 and buy both?

I got my 40 because the 50 was too long. I liked it so much that i just sold off a bunch of slow old AF sigma lenses to give me 50% off the 70. Who knows how i will like the 70mm length but the price is still OK and i am paranoid about it going up. I hated using the slow inferior old glass and never did anymore..... so i sold it. I am still on my k100d and investing in glass so this fits my strategy. Just giving you food for thought.

Yeah I know the 40 and 35 are close but they are completely different lenses.
I don't sell lenses, I buy them. Until I get to the position where I know what my needs are going to be, it's going to stay that way.
The old glass still has it's place in my kit for the foreseeable future.

I woudl say if you plan to do indoor go for the 40 , if portrait and street then the 70 is the ticket. I am going to 'take a look' at the 35 tomorrow ummm I wonder what will happen

Me, I'd cast my vote for the DA 70mm. You already have the 35/F2 which means you already have a great, fast lens for the "normal" FOV range.

I will loan you my DA40 if it will help you make your decision. I am lost in a MF frenzy now anyway.

And if you end up with the Da 70 I will stick it on my camera when I come by to pick up my 40... I always wanted to try the 70, let me know?

Thanks Gus, I am veering towards the 70 for portraiture and the extra length.
One reason I'm looking at them now is because I want discreet lenses to take into concerts etc.

Thanks to jsherman's post I finally see why people prefer the 43 to the 40 other than the speed and full-frameness... the 3D look is just different =) Kinda like the SMC tak 50 and FA 50. Argh! is it good or bad that we have so many choices in pentaxland? And I thought I was dead set on the DA 35 too.

After getting my DA 35, I ordered a DA 40 several weeks ago (just before the price hike) and I'm waiting on a nice DA 70 to show up in the marketplace.

I went with the 31, 43 and 77 just in case Pentax comes with a full frame and I decide to get involved. Otherwise, I would have bought the pancakes. Those Limited lenses are something.

Once I was on the same position, buying DA40 and DA70 was my first choice, it was cheaper than FA43 and FA77 but pancakes are not for me, DA40 is too small for my taste and f1.9 and f1.8 was a great point to consider about FA limiteds so I decided to buy a second hand 43mm and 77mm... no regrets.
