Hi

I am selling a Pentax DA 18-55mm mark 2 lens on ebay and have been asked the following question.

is this compatible with pentax mz-5 Autofocus?

Does anyone know the answer to this ?

Hi Jason,

Hope this response comes out OK. It's my first time posting here!!

Quote from the manual for the Pentax DA series lenses.

'smc PENTAX-DA lens can be used only with PENTAX digital SLR cameras. This lens is not compatible with film SLR cameras.'

I'm presuming the mz-5 is a film camera.

hi Jason,

I jut tested my DA 18-55 version 1 with my ZX-L (ZX5n) and it works fine. Since the two variables involved are both from the same generation, I dont see why the DA 18-55 II will not autofocus with the ZX-5

mtansley is right in that it will not work fully with the ZX-5 (check out the "da lenses on full frame" thread) but it will autofocus fine. You'll have to use it wide open all the time though (one of the reasons I went for 5n instead of 5)

oh and quick shift focusing doesnt seem to work either... but it's a fine budget wide angle if that's what the buyer wants it for.

It will vignette below 23mm iirc
