Sigma Ex 24-70 f2.8 AF DG DF?

What's the difference between the Sigma AF 24-70 f2.8 EX DG DF and the Sigma AF 24-70 f2.8 EX DG Macro?

Is there a large difference in quality and minimum focus distance?

i assume the lens designated macro has a smaller focus distance but is the other one still a good lens worth maybe US$ 300?.

I can't find info on the non macro lens with DF on the box like in this photo

interesting... I didnt know there was a non macro version

My macro came with a black bag not a green one, my focus distance is 40cm (in markings) though the ring turns past that a little.

The DF is an older lens ... DF was for Dual Focus (was a like a decoupling clutch mechanism in the lens I think)

I have the 28-70 EX DF f/2.8 lens .. it was prior to the DG designation though.
Can't say I have had that much problem with mine ... gave it a bit of a test with my nieces on the weekend outdoors playing with bubbles ... and it performed quite well in poor overcast afternoon lighting.

there are 3 version of this lens now, the first the DF, the second the macro and the 3rd just released the HSM, which is rrp for $1400usd!

The old style DF has the green bag and rubber grip with the largeish grooves, the newer versions have a smaller ribbing, and still retain the free rotating focus ring.
