Sigma 105mm f/2.8 Macro vs smcP-D FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro

I have the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 macro and was wondering how it stacked up against the Pentax smcP-D FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro.

Has anyone owned both?

I can't fully answer your question but I can say that from my research, the 105mm is said to be an excellent lens, and a good comparison to the 100mm d-fa. I doubt one is clearly superior to the other; the differences are small.

Photozone.de users rated the 2 lens about the same:
Lens Performance Survey - INTERPRETED OUTPUT

I was ready to purchase the 105mm sigma but I got an amazing deal on the D-FA which ended up being cheaper than the sigma... go figure.

Hullo there!

I have been wondering along similar lines with reference to the latest Di Tamron 90 macro vs. the Pentax dfa 100. Saw some reviews on Photodo. The Tamron (on a Nikon body) far surpasses all other macros (Canon/Sigma/Pentax), especially wide open if one want to use it as a short telelphoto/portrait lens as well.

So I am wondering: has anyone here used both these lenses on the same body for a more balanced comparison of image quality, etc? Any inputs will be appreciated. I could send a comparitive lens test graph (jpeg) but do not know how to upload an image here. (The insert image link wants a URL, whereas this jpeg is on my machine.)
